Gregory Jacobs was the kind of guy who might’ve given the suit off his back to a person who needed a jacket, so it makes sense to see the proceeds from this tribute concert going to the houseless. In May, Jacobs—better known as Digital Underground founder Shock G—died in his hometown of Tampa.

Hip-hop and funk fans across the world mourned, big names from the rap scene came to Ybor City for the funeral, and a June update to the medical examiner’s death investigation blamed the 57-year-old’s death on an accidental overdose of fentanyl, alcohol and methamphetamine, but the fact of the matter is that Shock G’s influence on popular music means that the Underground is everywhere.

This show isn’t until next Thursday, but Shock G’s closest friends and collaborators—including his Four Horsemen bandmat Doc P—are throwing a big tribute concert for the Tampeño who founded Digital Underground, invented G-funk and changed hip-hop forever.

A Tribute to Shock G: Jinx w/Hybreed Em16/C Rena/Hyfa/J Roc Jones/Genolexis/more. Thursday, Aug. 26, 8 p.m. $10 donation for houseless. Crowbar, 1812 N 17th St., Ybor City. @darealbless on Facebook
