On Jan. 18, Florida added more than 8,000 new cases of coronavirus and 142 deaths; Tampa Bay posted 1,435 coronavirus cases and 42 deaths Sunday. On Monday, The Tampa Bay Times pointed out that locally, “about 21 percent of regular beds and about 19 percent of ICU beds were open.”

And while more than a million people have been vaccinated in a state where the positivity rate is averaging 11% weekly, the latest state numbers offer several thousands of reasons to stay home.

Still, the local music scene is still trying to figure out how to get back on its feet. We’ve marked the gigs at venues that have joined a local (for now) Tampa-based “Safe & Sound” initiative that pledges to strictly enforce limited capacity, mask wearing and social distancing.
