In early 2020, Águeda Sanfiz’s sister took her own life at 44 years old in Tarragona, Spain. It happened 11 days after the Spanish government announced a nationwide lockdown to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. Sanfiz kept shooting.
The Tampa-based photographer’s latest exhibition, “The Other Pandemic,” captures that moment in time, and on Thursday, Jan. 19 there’s a free gallery talk followed by a concert by stunning Catalan songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ona Kirei and Bay area jazz guitar royalty LaRue Nickelson.
