✔️ Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park Grand Opening w/Third Eye Blind/Distinguished Men of Brass/Three Sheets To The Wind/Jah Movement/C-Rena It’s been less than a year since Third Eye Blind played to its longtime and new fans during a Clearwater concert, but the ‘90s rock band is headed back to the Bay area just in time (not “10 Days Late”) to play a free show as part of the grand opening of the new Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park in downtown Tampa. Also playing on Saturday are OG Tampa R&B singer C-Rena, the Distinguished Men of Brass ensemble, Three Sheets to the Wind and Skipper’s regulars Jah Movement. The second day of the two-day celebration will feature performances by The Florida Orchestra and U.S. Navy Band. (Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park, Tampa) INFO
The Stockyard One-Year Anniversary Party A headliner hasn’t been announced, but here’s a tip of the hat to The Stockyard, which has been giving Pinellas an alternative to Tampa’s Dallas Bull for a year now. This burgeoning Holiday hotspot has a ways to go before catching up to the Bull, but past shows from names like Tyler Farr, Michael Ray and Carly Pearce are a good place to start. Wolf-Face & Friends Jawbreaker and At The Drive-In Tribute Changer’s Ryan Metcalf is one of the Bay area’s most undersung rock guitarists, and he’ll take the floor twice on Saturday when two of his bands play covers sets at The Bends. The night will be headlined by Wolf-Face playing songs by pioneering emo group Jawbreaker, and the first part of the evening will feature Metcalf and others playing cuts composed by proggy alt-rock heros At The Drive-In, which made a special brand of art-punk up until 2001, when two of its members — Cedric Bixler and Omar Rodríguez — went on to form The Mars Volta (At The Drive-In reunited in 2011 and even recorded an album, but we’re willing to bet that the covers set will lean on old stuff). This show, like each one at The Bends, is free to attend. (The Bends, St. Petersburg) INFO

Always & Forever: An Evening of Luther Vandross starring Ruben Studdard Luther Vandross has been gone for more than a decade now, but one of the most soulful American Idol contestants ever (Ruben Studdard, Season Two) is coming to bring some life back to songs from the late soul and R&B singer. Studdard, 39, was dubbed the “next Luther” during his run on the show and was even nominated for a “Best Male R&B Vocal Performance” Grammy in 2003 — an award which Vandross, who was also nominated, ended up taking home that year. ✔️ James Taylor Music fans are thinking about Bonnie Raitt, who had to drop off this tour with James Taylor due to an unspecified medical condition that will require surgery (the prognosis is good, and full recovery is expected, according to Raitt’s camp). And while Sheryl Crow was added to dates in Phoenix and L.A., fans attending the first leg of this tour will now be treated to two sets from Taylor and his band with a brief intermission. That news should bode well for the 70-year-old’s superfans, who’ll be pleased when Taylor breaks out rarely heard songs for the extended concert. (Amalie Arena, Tampa) INFO
