R. Kelly w/Keyshia Cole/Adina Howard Not even a protest from a University of South Florida professor could mute this R. Kelly concert. Aisha Durham, an associate professor of communication, launched a campaign last Sunday and told the Tampa Bay Times that she’s reached out to Yuengling Center officials about the show headlined by an alleged sexual predator. “This is something we should already know is a non-starter if we are truly committed to tolerance and inclusion on our campus,” she said. The venue — which rented the room to an out-of-state promoter for this show — has been mum for the most part, although it did say that guests have the right to choose which events they attend or don’t. The 51-year-old embattled, and emboldened, '90s R&B icon announced the show — where Adina Howard and Keyshia Cole will open — a month ago, and the timing came just a week after Kelly’s ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, went on The View to accuse the R&B singer of multiple incidents of physical abuse. ✔️ Tampa Am Concert w/Deezy Wee the Reaper/They Hate Change/DJ Topgun/Freshie There’ll be an open bar at Skatepark of Tampa at a certain point on Saturday, and those few hours of boozing should warm contestants and spectators up for the Saturday nightlife portion of the weekend-long Tampa Am tournament. This one’s not free like the Friday-night show at The Bricks, but a contest wristband is enough to get you in to watch two titans from the new school of Tampa hip-hop — Deezy Wee and They Hate Change — get the crowd hyped. Aqueous w/The Heavy Pets There is a new generation of jam-scene friendly bands emerging of late, and Buffalo quartet Aqueous is definitely part of that movement. Formed in 2007 by guitarist Mike Gantzer, multi-instrumentalist David Loss and bassist Evan McPhaden (Bass) — the band definitely pleases fans of groove-centric rock, but it also has an impressive tendency to dive deep into exploratory improvisation at shows. This one supporting a new album, Color Wheel, should find Aqueous dipping into hip-hop, reggae and rock ballad sounds, too. (Crowbar, Ybor City) INFO

✔️ Brian Wilson Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary World TourBrian Wilson’s September 2016 Pet Sounds show at Mahaffey Theater was supposed to be the last time fans got to see the Beach Boy play songs from the iconic 1966 album live in and in person. The enigmatic 76-year-old songwriter and composer flipped that idea on its head when he announced another round of Pet Sounds dates, including one on May 18 at Clearwater’s Ruth Eckerd Hall which was postponed after Wilson had to get back surgery. Well, Wilson is all healed up and ready to see fans again, and while some critics crack on the guy’s voice losing its luster, nothing can compare to seeing the joy in Wilson’s eyes as he works through some of the most important tunes rock and roll has ever produced. Dunedin Wines the Blues Festival w/Andy T feat. Alabama Mike/Ally Venable Band/Duffy Bishop/Shaw Davis/TC Carr/Joey Gilmore/Black Ties/more Dunedin is always so laid back, and this long-running downtown blues, food and wine festival is no exception. In its 22nd year, Dunedin Wines the Blues brings a handful of local and national acts to the sleepy small town where three stages at Pioneer Park, Pisces Sushi and Kelly’s Chica Boom room will be utilized throughout the day, which starts at 3 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. (Main Street, Downtown Dunedin) INFO
✔️ Unearth w/Fit For An Autopsy/The Agony Scene/Traitors Well, here’s a monstrous metal bill that finds Unearth supporting its seventh full-length while Xjesus-coreX favorite The Agony Scene opens the show. Deathcore giant Fit For An Autopsy rounds out an evening that is easily the darkest, loudest show on this week’s lineup of live music. (Orpheum, Ybor City) INFO
