✔️ Ol’ Dirty Sundays w/DJ Cash Money Philadelphia-born Floridians won’t be watching their beloved Eagles defend a Super Bowl title next weekend, but they may find some solace in seeing one of their own (DJ Cash Money) make his Ol’ Dirty Sundays debut. In the 1988 DMC championships, the DJ Hall of Fame Inductee and Jazzy Jeff pal defeated his competition so handily that he was banned from entering again. That didn’t stop Cash Money (born Jerome Hewlett) from winning the New Music Seminar and American Mixing Championship competitions, however, and he is still the only turntablist in the world to have held all three titles simultaneously. (Crowbar, Ybor City) INFO
DieAlps! w/North By North/Hello Joyce Lots of Chicago bands are coming through Tampa Bay this week (hi, Joan of Arc and Marbin), and this bill finds garage-pop duo North By North playing a Tampa record shop on what’s almost the year anniversary of the band’s last Bay area show (a February 2018 gig at St. Petersburg’s Planet Retro). The support looks different this time thanks to two darlings of the Tampa indie-pop scene (DieAlps!, Hello Joyce) which play support for this 5 p.m. matinee. Only park in the nearby Cappy’s Pizza parking lot if you want to have a really bad night. (Microgroove, Tampa) INFO
✔️ Dollar Signs w/Late Bloomer/Worst Party Ever/Community Couch/Planet Loser As far as punk subgenres go, this show is the week’s most eclectic by a landslide. Two North Carolina bands that play grunge-y indie-rock (Late Bloomer) and goofy power-pop (Dollar Signs) are being joined by a trio of Bay area locals whose tunes range from synth-pop (Planet Loser), emo (Worst Party Ever) and lo-fi folk (Community Couch). Per usual, this Lucky You show is all ages and early (8 p.m.), too. (Lucky You Tattoo, St. Petersburg) INFO
Blast and the Detergents w/Good Grief/Piss Ghost Blast and the Detergents was a welcome addition to the Bay area punk scene at the beginning of this decade, but the outfit stopped releasing music in 2013 and played its last show three years after that. Well, Blast has been resurrected for this DIY backyard gig in support of Asheville crust-pop trio Good Grief, which arrives supporting a quick-hit 2018 EP, git gooder. Best of the Bay-winning outfit Piss Ghost breaks out of the trendy teen girl clothing store (wink, wink) to open the show. (Doghouse, St. Petersburg) INFO
Crash Test Dummies w/Love & Addiction Brad Roberts, Ellen Reid, Dan Roberts, and Mitch Dorge haven’t toured together since 2001, but the boys (you know them as Crash Test Dummies) are getting the band back together in celebration of its 1993, Jerry Harrison-produced surprise hit album God Shuffled His Feet, which is adored by oddball hipsters and curmudgeonly ‘90s-rock purists alike.
