SANDRA DOHNERT

Tampa Bay has been patiently awaiting the return of the Black Keys since the band's last show here, back in 2014 at Amalie Arena. The rock and roll giant—one of the only bands that can balance mainstream popularity and indie-coolness—returns to Tampa on Sept. 4 with a show at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre.

Support for this early fall Tampa date includes Gary Clark Jr., who headlined Gasparilla Music Festival last year, as well as the Grammy-nominated Americana-soul singer Yola

This tour shares the same name as the Keys’ last album Lets Rock, which was released last year, so expect singles from this new LP like “Lo/Hi” and “Shine a Little Light” to be on Tampa’s setlist, alongside massive radio hits like “Lonely Boy” and “Tighten Up,” which you’ve definitely heard while waiting in line at Publix.

The midwestern rock duo formed in 2001 and now performs with a full band that helps it commandeer arenas of both young and old fans. Most Tampa Bay rock lovers headed to Orlando’s Amway Center last year to get a taste of the Black Keys during the band's show with Modest Mouse and Shannon and the Clams.

Tickets to this the Black Keys, Gary Clark Jr. and Yola on Sept. 4 at Tampa's MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre go on sale this Friday, Feb. 28. You can purchase them on livenation.com, and if you’re part of the Black Keys fan club, you probably already know that you can snag pre-sale tickets tomorrow morning.
