UPDATE 2: Due to popular demand, The Straz Center has added a third show on Friday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m. Holy Hagrid. Tickets for all shows are still available, they're all just moving very quickly.
UPDATE: Tickets aren't even on sale yet, but the Straz Center has already added a second show on October 1. Praise Hermione.
Tampa Bay Harry Potter fans: you're life just got a little better because The Florida Orchestra and Straz Center have announced that TFO will be performing John Williams' score for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone live on Spetember 30 while the film plays in high definition on a 40-foot screen inside of Carol Morsani Hall.
The orchestra will be conducted by Justin Freer, who has appeared with the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and more.
"The Harry Potter film series a once-in-a-lifetime cultural phenomenon that continues to delight millions of fans around the world," Freer said in a release. "It is with great pleasure that we introduce for the first time ever an opportunity to experience the award-winning music scores played live by a symphony orchestra, all while the beloved film is simultaneously projected onto the big screen. It will be an unforgettable event.”
Tickets for the performance go on sale on May 12 and will cost fans $45-$95. More information is available via local.cltampa.com.
