The new album from singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield's Birmingham, Ala.-bred Waxahatchee drops next Tuesday, and Ivy Tripp is one of the more anticipated indie-rock releases of spring. For good reason — Crutchfield's unique balance of the melancholy and anthemic is both a fresh twist and a reminder of college rock's heyday, back when imprints like Merge (Waxahatchee's label) were defining an entirely new genre.
You can stream Ivy Tripp at NPR right now, and the video for super-melodic, super-indie track "Under A Rock" is after the jump.
