The last month was a trying one for vaunted Tampa Bay community radio station WMNF 88.5-FM, but staff, supporters and listeners can probably all coalesce around this bit of good news.

The station has announced that Alabama soul collective St. Paul & the Broken Bones will headline its 40th anniversary party set for September 14 at the Coliseum in St. Petersburg. The booking is unique in that it finds frontman Paul Janeway & Co. foregoing the band's usual St. Pete stomping grounds (Jannus Live) in favor of an underutilized, underrated community gathering space that makes for a mighty fine concert hall, too.

The show will be St. Paul & the Broken Bones’ first Bay area appearance since a December 2017 show in support of their latest album, Young Sick Camellia. Tickets will be $30-$40, and support acts have yet to be announced, but this show could potentially feel like a mini-Tropical Heatwave as the date gets closer.

In an April 4 email to CL, WMNF Program Director Randy Wynne said that tickets will go on sale Tuesday, April 9 at 12 p.m (get them via wmnf.org).
