2015 Grammy Nominations Announced

Sam Smith, Pharrell and Taylor Swift among 2015 nominees.

Earlier this morning, Pharrell and Ed Sheeran stopped by CBS This Morning to announce this year’s first four categories of Grammy nominees.

The coveted Record of the Year looks like it’s going to either “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea and Charlie XCX, “Chandelier” by Sia, “Stay With Me (Darkchild Version)” by Sam Smith, “Shake it Off” by Taylor Swift or “All About That Bass” by Megan Trainor.

Nominees for Best Pop Vocal Album include Miley Cyrus, Coldplay, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith. Best Urban Contemporary Album contenders are Beyonce, Pharrell, Chris Brown, Jhene Aiko and Mali Music.

Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Brandy Clark, Miranda Lambert and Lee Ann Womack are all in for Country Album of the Year.

Instead of announcing all the nominees in one go, CBS will squeeze all the juice they can out of this thing and announce them incrementally via Twitter from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. today. And, if that wasn’t enough, Album of the Year won’t be announced until tonight’s airing of A Very Grammy Christmas at 9 p.m. EST. The show will feature live performances from Sam Smith, Ariana Grande, Mary J. Blige, Maroon 5, Pharrell Williams and Tim McGraw.

To watch the actual ceremony in February, you’ll have to sign a contract stating that you’ll willingly watch CBS for a minimum four (4) hours a day, Clockwork Orange-style chair and never speak ill of this magnificent broadcast network ever. Kidding, but yeesh, should the announcement of nominees really be an all-day event? If only there was a page you could go to and check without having to go through all the hoops….

We’ll keep you updated below the jump as more announcements arrive.

The 57th Annual Grammy Awards will air February 8 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
