Here are 80 retro show posters from Transitions Art Gallery

...and there's plenty more where that came from.

In tomorrow's issue of Creative Loafing Tampa, we reset and take a look at at what the future of 4215 E. Columbus Ave looks like. The space — once home to Transitions Art Gallery — held its final show on July 19, closing the door on nearly two decades of DIY shows/community gatherings. There are definitely questions about how the DIY scene will bounce back after losing such a storied venue.

"I'm not sure how to answer this, and it might not be my place to," original Transitions manager Matt Welch wrote to CL. "DIY has consistently been about empowering young people, and I definitely don't fall in that age range anymore. There are people here in Tampa that are carrying things forward. I hope that they can."

There's more of Welch's thoughts -- along with those of new operators, past managers, and Transitions devotees -- in the issue that hits newsstands tomorrow.

In the meantime, here are close to 80 old Transitions show posters pulled from Welch's MySpace page (yes, they are retro). Have a good, detailed look at them below here.
