Buddy Guy has canceled his appearance on day three of this weekend's Clearwater Jazz Holiday.

An email from festival organizers cited medical reasons, and a post on the blues legend's social media thanked fans for their patience "while we work on getting back to full strength."

Guy's shows in St. Augustine and Pompano Beach are postponed, and an email from Jazz Holiday gives ticket holders for Saturday, Oct. 21—when the 87-year-old was scheduled to perform—the option to change days, but no refunds. The nonprofit festival, in its 43rd year, uses proceeds from the Jazz Holiday to boost its  year-long support of music education, outreach, and in the Bay area.

Clearwater Jazz Holiday has called Clearwater's Spectrum Field home for the last two years, as Coachman Park underwent a much-needed renovation, and this weekend is a much-welcome homecoming for the storied local festival, which welcomed the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie and Stan Getz in its earliest days.
Saturday's lineup at The Sound in Coachman Park is now headlined by Gipsy Kings, which is on a 50th anniversary tour. Los Lobos is also on the bill. Slide guitar wizard Roosevelt Collier—who's playing a free show in a different part of Coachman Park as part of the Jazz Holiday—is now on the mainstage lineup, too.

Nine other acts—including Gladys Knight, Trampled By Turtles, Dustbowl Revival, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Preservation Hall Band, The Beach Boys, and more—are also scheduled to play the mainstage this weekend.

Clearwater Jazz Holiday CEO Steve Weinberger told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that he's excited to see what Collier cooks up on Saturday.

"We've been working hard to make every night special," Weinberger added. "Because this is a special weekend where we get to celebrate the return to the waterfront in this beautiful new, but familiar, place."

Clearwater Jazz Holiday is at Coachman Park and The Sound in Clearwater Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 19-22, and tickets are still available starting at $30.75. Subscribe to Creative Loafing newsletters.
