Well, hello 2017. I hope everyone had a fabulous New Year's and are still honoring their resolutions. The Weekly Tune-Up is back for the first time in 2017. Let's get this year of music started off on the right groove. You know the drill, but to those that are new to the program, The Weekly Tune-Up is a mixtape of the latest indie-pop, hip-hop and rock songs around. Take a peak below of a few of my faves from this week.

The xx recently shared their sparkling second single "Say Something Loving" from the much anticipated I See You, the bands third LP. It's no secret I'm a fan of The xx, but I'm also feeling very excited about their latest material. "On Hold" was one of my favorite songs of 2016 and now we have "Say Something Loving," an uplifting track where Romy and Oliver trade layered heartfelt lines back and forth. Third member and producer Jamie xx samples the Alessi Brothers' 1978 cut "Do You Feel It?" Once again proving he's an amazing producer and very important part of The xx. I See You drops this Friday, but I hope to grab an early copy and bring you a review of their new album.

Nine Inch Nails managed to squeeze in a year-end EP right before Christmas titled, Not The Actual Events. I'm always down for a new project from Trent Reznor, even if it's a surprise. Reznor and composer Atticus Ross bring us five loud, heavy and dark industrial rock tracks that are reminiscent of '90s NIN. The production is rough and may be hard to swallow for some of their newer fan base, but long time followers may find something to like from this EP. Reznor has promised new music for 2017, but only he knows when that will be released.

I can't think of a better way to celebrate David Bowie's 70th birthday than to give his fans new music, even if it's only three new unreleased tracks; we'll take anything we can get. No Plan was an unexpected EP that released January 8, on the late legendary singer's birthday. Music fans across the world are crossing their fingers and wishing for more sudden EPs of undiscovered tunes from Mr. Bowie. One can only hope.
