Elton John announced the date of his second farewell show in Tampa today, along with dates for the 32 other North American cities he’ll be visiting as a part of his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.

The iconic English singer will perform at Amalie Arena on April 27, 2022. His supposed final Tampa show took place on November 4, 2019, but he soon announced another farewell concert set for May 26, 2020, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A press release says, those who purchased tickets for the May show will receive additional information on the upcoming show, and all original tickets will be honored.

It’s unclear if Amalie Arena will have reduced capacity, or if other social distancing protocols will be in place, but April 2022 is a long ways away. In press release for an unrelated Amalie show rescheduled for March 6, 2021 (André Rieu) venues spokespeople wrote that Amalie—together with the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County and our local health and wellness partners—established new safety procedures and social distancing protocols for all events.

"Understanding that medical data and these procedures and protocols will evolve with the pandemic, AMALIE Arena will ensure that all ticket purchasers receive an email with the most up-to-date guidelines prior to the event date," Amalie Arena added.

Elton's show takes audiences on a journey through the iconic British pop star's 50-year career, with never-before-seen photos and videos set to the tune of his most iconic songs. The three-year-long tour started in September 2018 and marks his retirement from touring after more than 50 years on the road.

“I’ve been enjoying my time at home with the family while the world navigates its way through the COVID pandemic …,” said John in social media post. “While the scientists are making great progress, we are making big plans for a return to touring that will allow us to ensure the health and safety of everyone.”
