George Michael has died at age 53

Former Wham! singer died "peacefully at home."

Add George Michael to the list of musicians who left us in 2016. The BBC is reporting that the former Wham! singer died peacefully at home.

THE YEAR IN MUSIC: THE GIANTS WE LOST — IN MEMORIAM

"It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period," his publicist said in a statement. "The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage."

The report goes on to say that Michael postponed a series of concerts after being taken to hospital for treatment for pneumonia in 2011. After treatment in a Vienna hospital, he made a tearful appearance outside his London home and said it had been "touch and go" whether he lived.

This is a developing story. Here's George Michael appearing on James Corden's Carpool Karaoke segment for UK charity Comic Relief.
