Jesse & Joy
Mexican brother-sister duo Jesse & Joy is known for leaning heavily on causes from equality and LGBTQ+ activism, to animal rights and natural disaster relief respectively.

In terms of studio work, Joy Uecke usually presents her airy vocals in front of Jesse Uecke’s instrumental riffs, including on their latest, Grammy-winning album Clichés, which is the perfect blend of acoustic and contemporary pop, sung in Spanish. Friday night marks the first time that the siblings will be in Tampa Bay, so if you skip out, you’ll be, as they say, “la de la mala suerte” (the one with bad luck).

Chilean poet Francisca Valenzuela opens the show.

Tickets to see Jesse & Joy play the Duke Energy Center at Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg on Friday, Aug. 11 are still available and start at $25. Subscribe to Creative Loafing newsletters.
