Jonas Brothers gave us an unfiltered, peak performance at Tampa’s Amalie Arena

This sold-out show wasn’t a comeback concert.

Saturday night, Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas all rocked in Tampa together again — for the first time in 10 years — as part of a reunion that’s been a long time in the making.

According to their new tell-all documentary Chasing Happiness, Nick, 26, and Joe, 29, were searching for themselves while Kevin, 31, wanted to settle down and enjoy having a family. Their lives were all going in different directions. After six years of so-called “side projects,” and the family drama that spawned from these endeavors, the guys just missed having fun while performing with each other. The Jonas Brothers wanted to be back together and reignite how and why they all first discovered music — through family.

As they were lowered from the rafters, the boys seemed to be descending from boy-band heaven as they belted out the band’s new hit, “Rollercoaster.” And there they were, three brothers from New Jersey that stole the hearts of millions of youngsters in the early 2000s — myself included.

But the bright blue, green and orange suit-wearing men are far from the teens they were when the Jonas Brothers first began.

The last time the bros stopped by Tampa, there definitely weren't any wives in tow. All three Jonas Brothers are now married and they brought their star-studded cast of wives to the tour-opening Miami performance just days before they came to Tampa. Game of Thrones actress, Sophie Turner, was the only wife living every girl’s fantasy by supporting husband Joe inside of Amalie Arena. The fourth Jonas brother, Frankie, was seen alongside Turner, occasionally hitting a Juul.

A lot has changed, and the brothers are all grown up, but the innocence of their music and their legacy still lives on. Throughout the hiatus, the Jonas Brothers kept a following that has stayed loyal through it all. The 16,500 screaming groupies at the sold-out show were brought back to middle school, and some lucky fans even had the chance to do a shot with the trio before they performed a medley of OG songs like “Hold On,” “Mandy” and “Tonight.”

Though this concert — overflowing with stage lifts, fireworks, confetti, air dancers and flame spitters — brought fans back in time, the Jonas Brothers received the opportunity to showcase who they really are. That’s right, this concert was JoBros Unfiltered. Disney was not able to censor anything this time. The Happiness Begins tour allows the guys to show who they really are after all of these years. In reality, this wasn’t a comeback concert, it was a peak performance of professionals 26 years in the making. The Jonas Brothers have given a nod to their past, but this is just the start of something amazing for the three musicians.

“Tampa. Thank you for having us back after all these years,” Nick told Amalie. “Let me tell you, This is just the beginning.”
