For those who have attended the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California in the past, there is always much anticipation at this time of year about who will be performing at what many contend is the country's best rock music festival (with apologies to Bonnaroo & Lollapalooza) that takes place every spring in suburban Palm Springs.
The wait is over, as the list went public on Wednesday. The festival, which will take place April 15-17, begins on April 15 with the main headliner, Kings of Leon (who headlined one of the nights at Bonnaroo last year). Saturday night it's the Arcade Fire, and Sunday night Kanye West, whose album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, topped many critics best of 2010 lists published last month, and has now gone platinum.
This marks the 2nd straight year that a major hip-hop artists has closed out one of the nights of the festival. Last year Jay-Z was the opening night headliner.
Among the other big name bands (all British) that we'll be playing include the return of P.J. Harvey, and reunion tours with Big Audio Dynamite, Wire and the London Suede (Although B.A.D.'s Mick Jones performed with the Gorillaz at the closing of the festival last year).
Here is the bands and artists that we're excited about seeing:
Friday night: Kings of Leon, the Black Keys, Interpol, the Chemical Brothers, Caifanes, Ra, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Brandon Flowers, Tame Impala, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Titus Andronicus, Cee Lo Green.
Saturday: Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, Bright Eyes, London Suede, Big Audio Dynamite.
Sunday: Kanye West, the Strokes, P.J. Harvey, the National, Best Coast, Delorean.
