If Piebald was a jazz band, it might sound a little like Chance Reynolds.

The young Bay area songwriter and drummer has a deadpan delivery and songs that knock listeners out with their irony and humor. Look for Reynolds & co. to play an anxiety-calming new single, “Weeki Wachee Blues,” plus obscure ‘70s jazz covers like “Mermaid” by British composer Alan Hawkshaw and drummer Brian Bennett alongside vibraphonist Eric Zabala and bassist Cooper Madden.

Ticket's for Hooch and Hive's jazz night featuring the Chance Reynolds trio on Thursday, May 30 are still available for $15. Subscribe to Creative Loafing newsletters.
