Tampa Bay community radio station WMNF 88.5 FM has invited CL to once-again substitute host a two-hour block of its Tuesday afternoon programming, and we're gonna be playing lots of local music and music that's been written about on the pages of cltampa.com.

We'll be talking about all of it, but we wanted you to have a place to follow up on all of the things we said. At the bottom of this post are photos from Snail Mail's sold-out April 7 show supporting Japanese Breakfast (we played "Pristine" from Snail Mail's new album Lush).

Feel free to tune in via 88.5 FM from 2-4 p.m. on July 3 or stream the signal via wmnf.org.

UPDATE: That was fun! Here's a link to check out the playlist via WNMF's It's The Music Tuesday page.

  • Shannon Shaw, "Broke My Own" — Richard Swift, a member of The Shins and in-demand indie-rock producer, died today at the age of 41. He produced this record, and CL was lucky enough to see The Shins at Shaky Knees. Here are the photos.
  • Kaelin Ellis, "Shift" — A young Central Florida producer whose dad worked on CL's computers one day. You never know where new music will present itself.
  • Soccer Mommy, "Scorpio Rising" — CL made a road trip to St. Augustine last month where we caught Soccer Mommy opening for Paramore. Here's our review and a bit about the venue from our Summer Guide.
  • Natalie Prass, "Short Court Style" — Natalie opened for Fleet Foxes this year, and the crowd would not shut up. Here's our review.
  • Janelle Monae, "Americans" — Our pansexual queen is playing St. Petersburg's Jannus Live on July 26, and we wrote about the concert announcement here.
  • Hiss Golden Messenger, "When The Wall Comes Down" — Hiss Golden Messenger played Gasparilla Music Festival a few years ago, and we last saw the band opening for Mumford & Sons at Amalie Arena. Here's our review.
  • Snail Mail, "Pristine" — Lindsey Jordan was lights out (literally, the lights went out) at Crowbar in April. Have a look at some photos from the show with Japanese Breakfast below, and read our interview with Jordan here.
  • Rhye, "Song For You" — Rhye's November 2016 show at State Theatre was a silky-smooth gem. Here's our review.
  • Michael McArthur, "Run Around" — This Lakeland songwriter was a highlight from a "LKLD" playlist curated by Copeland's Aaron Marsh. Read our interview with Marsh here.
  • Louis Junior, "4 Certain" — Tampa emcee Louis Junior seems to fly under the radar, but his forthcoming full-length could be one of the area's best hip-hop releases when it drops. Watch his video for "Nothing More" via cltampa.com.
  • Pohgoh, "Business Mode" — This is the lead single from a forthcoming album by old-school Tampa emo band, Pohgoh. We detailed the comeback, and you can read more here.
  • Leon Bridges, "Bet Ain't Worth The Hand" — Leon Bridges stopped by Clearwater's Ruth Eckerd Hall two Septembers ago, and we were lucky enough to grab a seat. Here's our review.
  • DEA & Saint, "Eric Weston" — St. Pete duo DEA & Saint defies genrefication, and we spoke with the band in a recent episode of the Creative Loafing Alternative Podcast (aka the CLAP). Listen here.
  • John Calvin Abney, "Always Enough" — John Calvin Abney was John Moreland's side man during a recent show at the Safety Harbor Art and Music Center, but he's one hell of a solo artist, too, as evidenced by this track from his brand-new full-length. Read a review of that Moreland show here.
  • David Byrne, "Bullet" — The Talking Heads frontman is coming to St. Petersburg's Mahaffey Theater with Tune-Yards. CLwrote about the concert announcement here.
  • Jordan Esker & the Hundred Percent, "Platitudes" — These indie-pop boys released an album that the area can be proud of, and we detailed the release here.
  • The Jackettes, "So Much Hair" — This St. Petersburg indie-pop band was featured in the most recent issue of Creative Loafing, and we took a deep dive into the band's influences. Check out our profile, Q&A/playlist and photos from the release show.
