Weekly Tune-Up: New music for your week by Cellars, Matt and Kim, Fort Frances, A$AP Ferg + more

The sudden death of Prince has shook the entire world, and not just those involved with music, but seemingly every facet of pop culture you can imagine. His influence will never be measured accurately because it's just too expansive and widespread. He was one of my all-time favorite artists, but more importantly, an artist who has without a doubt made a stylistic impact on the genres of music I listen to most. I can guarantee that many of the artists on this week's Tune-Up have been directly influenced by the legendary guitarist, songwriter and overall musical genius. This Weekly Tune-Up is dedicated to Prince. He'll be sorely missed.

When I saw that Ariel Pink was producing Cellars' new sophomore record, Phases, I couldn't help but to get a little excited. Phases is a full-on '80s dance party with glossy synths and drum samples. "Tropikool" could've easily been played at your local skating rink 30 years ago and it gives you a great feel of how much fun the album is.

Fort Frances is a Chicago trio that showed their Americana roots in earlier releases, but have since morphed comfortably into an an indie rock group you should know about. "Take the Wheel" is a lyrically honest jam that showcases frontman David McMillan's storytelling style.

I've always thought Matt and Kim were an unbelievably fun duo. I mean, how cool would it be to play music and tour with your significant other, not only get paid for it, but make a success of it, too? They're always beaming and radiating positive energy both live, on stage, and in any photos you happen to catch them posing (or hanging) in. Known for their spontaneity, the group released a surprise EP this week called WE WERE THE WEIRDOS. "Let's Run Away" is a glossy electro-pop tune that showcases Kim's percussion skills as well as Matt and Kim's inherently fun nature.
