Weekend two at The Attic, Ybor City's newest venue, is in the books thanks to North Florida folk hero JJ Grey, who played two sold out shows on December 16 and 17.
The 150-person venue, which hosted songwriter Shawn Mullins for a soft opening on Dec. 10, was supposed to open in March and sits above the future site of Rock Brothers Brewing's tasting room at 1510 E. 8th Ave. in Ybor City. The performance space is unique for the district considering its size and listening room vibe.

There's still a lot of work to do as far as aesthetics and a final drink menu go, but co-owner Tony Casoria told CL that on Saturday Rock Bros. also invited guests into the still unfinished tasting room below The Attic so that staff could start getting in the motions and toying around with drink recipes.
A grand opening could happen sometime in January according to Casoria.
"I want to bring a lot of what I learned over at Mandarin Hide," Casoria, who is a partner at the St. Pete cocktail bar, said. He reiterated that there's still a lot of work to do both behind the scenes and in the front of house, but he was happy to have friends, family and guests help them get the wheels going after the first of Grey's two sold out shows.
