As this went to press on Tuesday, temps were fighting to crack 60 degrees, and, well, that’s just way too cold for a Floridian. So we’re listening to Speak Easy to keep us warm. The St. Petersburg indie-pop quartet’s July single, “Grapefruit,” feels like the soft sand outside the Don CeSar, and the harmonies (reminiscent of Yellow Daze on the three-minute cut) are lush enough to make your lips pucker up into a chef’s kiss.
The fellas—guitarist Eric Yoder, joined by K Sahagian on keys, bassist Brendon Porter and drummer Jack Clements—play a free “Safe & Sound” gig in Seminole Heights where reservations are highly recommended.
Speak Easy, Friday Dec. 12, 9 p.m. Free. Ella’s Americana Folk Art Café, Tampa INFO
