Pleasures, which plays The Bends in St. Petersburg, Florida on Aug. 25, 2023.
Katherine Kelly is a legend in St. Pete's indie-rock scene, and a lot of the lore is built around her band, Pleasures, which is still the standard other local psych-rock outfits try to live up to.
The group—which has been on a multi-year hiatus—plays a new album,
Torture Triangle, in full at this free show, along with classics from the Pleasures catalog.
In an email to Creative Loafing Tampa Bay, Kelly called the passion project Pleasures’ most ambitious album yet and said that
Torture Triangles was written, recorded and produced between 2020-2023. “In classic Pleasures style, attendees can expect a visual projection-heavy immersive experience,” Kelly wrote, adding that this is the band’s only show of the year.
There’s no cover to see Pleasures at The Bends in St. Petersburg on Friday, Aug. 25.
