Taking on the music of Miles Davis is a heavy task, but Bay area trumpeter James Suggs is built to shoulder the load. In 2012, during his time living in Buenos Aires, Suggs formed a Miles Davis tribute band, and if Suggs’ 2018 album You’re Gonna Hear From Me is any indication, then we can expect him to play with just as much emotion and expression as one of the greatest horn players to ever live.

A veritable Tampa Bay jazz all-star band — saxophonist Jeremy Carter, pianist John O’Leary, drummer Mark Feinman, and bassist Brandon Robertson (who is an Emmy-nominated director) — accompanies Suggs at the Palladium Theater’s Side Door Cabaret.

Thurs. Oct. 24, 7:30 p.m. $23-$45. Side Door Cabaret at Palladium Theater, 353 5th Ave. N., St. Petersburg. mypalladium.org.
