Maudlin Moon is set to make its radio debut next week on WMNF’s Grand National Championships (GNC), but local music fans curious about the band that’s been starting to appear on local bills can now get acquainted online.
Released today, “Imminence” is a synth- and bass-driven new wave cut that would feel really good when you find yourself at The Castle on a Saturday night and thinking about your eighth vodka. Recorded at The Lala Mansion (a literal Palma Ceia casita prima built by the founders of Outback Steakhouse) along with three other songs that’ll get played on Maudlin Moon’s GNC session, the four-minute cut was engineered and mixed by Andrew Boullianne (who’s worked with a CL favorite, songwriter Leon Majcen) and mastered by Mike Picotte.
Drummer Andrew Pellegrino says that the band’s goal is to record three to four songs every three to four months for its first year and told CL that he and his bandmates — guitarist-singer Brianna Bullock, bassist and synth player Ariel Cortes plus guitar and synth player Luke Carlos Lopez —already have another batch of songs cooking right now.
Maudlin Moon’s next show on June 15 at Hooch and Hive in Tampa. More information on the gig is available here. Listen to the song below.
