Hey look — there's some music happening on this Thurs., Sept. 10. Take a look at the breakdown below...

Purity Ring Corin Roddick handles all the knob turning and production when it comes to Purity Ring, but singer Megan James’ dreamy, silky vocal is the perfect vessel to ride Roddick’s sea of wobbly, atmospheric and deceptively catchy electro-pop. Another Eternity, the pair’s sophomore LP, is the first time they both created a record in the same room (they collaborated remotely while living 500 miles apart for their debut Shrines), and the connection is almost tangible on album highlights “bodyache” and “push pull,” where it’s almost impossible not to get lost in the heavy bass and hyper-melodic vocals. (The Ritz Ybor, Ybor City)

Mick Jenkins with STWO, Myth Syzer Orpheum is for the kids, man. Its calendar is arguably the best in the Bay area as far as hip-hop goes, and if the jam-packed Earl Sweatshirt appearance less than two weeks ago wasn’t enough to convince you of the Seventh Avenue club’s prowess, then head out to see Mick Jenkins dole out hyper-literate, increasingly wild lyricism with ease. His opener — producer STWO from Toronto — makes the kind of beats all the bedroom knob-turners blow loads for, so get out early. (Orpheum, Ybor City)

Ed Sheeran with Christina Perri The world’s most famous ginger is coming to slather all kinds of coffee-house soul-crooner madness onto what will likely be heaps of screaming fangirls (and boys, too). The craziest part about the 24-year-old West Yorkshire boy’s show is that he does it all on his own, sans band, utilizing a smaller, 20-fret guitar (compared to the 22 to 24 frets usually found on the instrument) and an array of pedals. He's known for his hard post-show drinking, so we’re going to camp out at The Hub in hopes of having a scotch or seven with the troubadour. (Amalie Arena, Tampa)
