Tonight in live music; scramz (huh?) at The Venture Compound; Dillon Francis on the sand, and free folk or jazz in the Heights

Great picks on both sides of the Bay, and at least one right on the water's edge.

Shurwood w/ At The Heart Of It/Fero Lux/Snacking/Seek Well/Ask For Tiger Scramz, more scramz. The emo subgenre (yes, there are genres within subgenres) has been popping up on our radar a lot lately, and this stop from Massachusetts’ At The Heart of It is the latest example. “You Couldn’t Stay,” a single released last week on Bandcamp screams back to a time when Geoff Rickly was leading his band, Thursday, through painfully aggressive post-hardcore songs like “Paris In Flames” and “Understanding In A Car Crash.” A handful of high quality Bay area outfits open this show in St. Petersburg’s Warehouse District. Dillon Francis, EDM on the beach. It's nice out. You like beats. Dillon Francis is a pretty funny dude with with fun catalog. Why the hell not? Just don't throw a soda can at his head, k? Get hyped below. (Beach Bar, Tampa - INFO)
