Talib Kweli has maintained his indie street cred and social consciousness amid achieving extraordinary success in hip hop, his breezy clever rhymes touching on anything from the illusions and distractions that are used to cover up real life struggles in seminal cut “Get By,” to misogyny, society and present state of hip hop in “State of Grace,” off 2013’s Gravitas. Talib plans to drop two new albums this year; a solo LP, Radio Silence, on his own Javotti Media imprint, and a collab with 9th Wonder, tentatively titled B.A.D. (Build And Destroy). Niko Is opens. 7 p.m. doors, Orpheum, Ybor City, $20 general/$40 VIP.
