Some artists are throwing down jams on both sides of the bay on this fine Fri., Sept. 11. Take a look at the breakdown below. We've also included a breakdown of shows coming up this weekend for your planning convenience. Enjoy!

Zappa Plays Zappa Dweezil Zappa is a nerd. The 45-year-old son of Frank has famously notated every single part of his father’s music, and on Friday he’ll share that enthusiasm with a devoted fanbase who will arrive early for some guitar lessons (seriously) and then stick around for a full-on performance of dad’s 1975 cult masterpiece One Size Fits All. Let the face-melting commence. (Jannus Live, St. Petersburg) —Ray Roa

xSMASH IT UPx with Car Bomb Driver, Treasure Island, Slade & The Wasters, Village of Weedville The Local 662’s busy summer of concerts begins to wind down with a free punk show featuring a whole bunch of bands with names your mother would cringe at (come on, Village of Weedville, really?!). Regardless, expect to flail around to some hardcore (Slade & The Wasters) and melodic punk (Car Bomb Driver) at this show, which also doubles as a release party for Misprints mag’s fifth issue. (Local 662, St. Petersburg) —RR

The Fall of Troy with And So I Watch You From Afar, Slothrust Hailing from Washington State, cult-beloved prog/mathcore trio The Fall of Troy put out four full-lengths on cred-heavy imprints like Equal Vision before initially calling it quits in 2010; in late 2013, the band’s original lineup reunited for a few shows, which led to the announcement that the band would once again be touring and recording, but only at fans’ behest, acting as their own booking agent and music distribution system. This current southeastern U.S. stint is part of an exhaustive back-on-the-horse world tour, ostensibly in preparation for tracking some new shit. (Orpheum, Ybor City) —Scott Harrell

NGHTMRE The 24-year-old first LA-based trap/bass music producer also known as Tyler Marenyi came to EDM light with his remix of Showtek’s “We Like To Party” with Slander, earning nearly 5 million plays online and since lauded to kingdom come and back by the likes of Flosstradamus, RL Grime, Bassnectar, Skrillex and Diplo. NGHTMRE made his debut on the latter artists’ Mad Decent label in June with the single “STREET,” full of whirring, zipping, burping and squealing sonics that pepper the synth washes, sub-bass pulses, build-ups and beat bumpin’ break-downs. (Amphitheatre, Ybor City) —Leilani Polk

Zach Deputy with The Ries Brothers Eclectic and loaded with talent, Deputy should deliver the ultimate Skipperdome dance party and live music spectacle. When he’s improvising a new tune, he starts with a drum beat, guitar riff, bassline or some beatboxing, and builds a sound layer by layer — no song is ever the same from one performance to another. The self-described maker of “island-infused, drum-bass, gospel-ninja soul” has the energy and output of a full band, and usually brings with him a killer light show. The Ries Brothers are a popular teen rock duo from Clearwater with the appropriate amount of energy to get the party started. (Skipper’s Smokehouse, Tampa) —Julie Garisto
