Weekly Tune-Up: Best Albums of 2015, Shortlist Part 2, from Tame Impala to Beach House, Here We Go Magic + more

A look at Best of the Year contenders that released albums July through December; Spotify playlist included.

Leilani and I are back to present Part 2 of the Best of 2015 Weekly Tune-Up, where we survey noteworthy LPs that dropped this year via the songs featured on them; last week's edition encompassed releases that dropped January through June. This week, we look at July through December.

It's hard to comprehend that the year is coming to a close in a few weeks, but 2015 is leaving behind some mighty fine music. My album of the year, Tame Impala's Currents, was released in July, and has more than likely made numerous other Best of year-ending lists. Currents was everything I thought it would be and then some, its stunning production qualities growing more on me with each listen, and frontman Kevin Parker's earnest lyrics felt relatable. If you haven't submersed yourself in this album, you're missing out on some funky grooves. The Game had one of the best hip-hop songs of '15 with "100." Drake's more mellow than usual verse and chorus accompanied a soulful sample that made for the perfect summer jam. Some artists that you may not be familiar with, but definitely shouldn't be overlooked that you'll hear on the 50-track playlist below include Ill's, Palace, Vince Staples, ODEZSA, Night Beds, EL VY, Majical Cloudz, Shunkan and The Internet. If you missed out on new music this year, don't fret — Creative Loafing has you covered. Take a listen now.
