
Democrats have been giddy over the past 48 hours after the special election victory in the New York-26 Congressional election Tuesday night, believing that the seeds of success in 2012 lay in demonizing their opponents over the Paul Ryan plan to dismantle Medicare.
But as Bill Clinton was quoted as saying on Wednesday, that would probably be the wrong lesson to take away from that election.
Nevertheless, Democrats are feeling empowered, and after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid put the Ryan budget up for a vote in the Senate Wednesday night, they now will begin targeting some of those senators who are now on record as supporting Ryan – which means staffers at Marco Rubio's office next week in Tampa may want to invest in some earplugs.
