Democratic gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink sat down with the editorial board of the St. Petersburg Times yesterday, and went off on her GOP rival, Rick Scott.
As reported today in the Times/Miami Herald, reporter Mary Ellen Klas writes,
Sink said she believes that voters who support Scott in the polls know about his history, but "maybe they don't care - or are just so angry with the state of affairs we find ourselves in, they put their beliefs aside and think that it's not that important."
"I don't know what they're thinking," she added, "because it's stunning to me, frankly."
You know who also found it stunning that Scott was a viable candidate? Bill McCollum.
Yes, it's 28 days away from our major election, and for Democrats and not a few Republicans, the fact that Rick Scott is pretty close to actually winning the Governor's race is stunning, but at this point it's also very real, and Sink and her team surely know that by now.
The fact that Rick Scott's former company was charged with Medicaid and Medicare fraud some think should disqualify him for running for office, as no less than consultant/pundit Dick Morris said recently that he doesn't believe Scott should be worthy of the office.
But for whatever reason, most Republicans seem okay with Scott's shaky past, and are mesmerized by his "let's back to work" campaign mantra.
