BEST ARTS ACTIVIST

Art Keeble

With all the budget slashing in Tallahassee, 2003 has been a bummer year for arts funding. We're grateful to Hillsborough County Arts Council Executive Director Art Keeble, who rallied the troops via informational e-mail messages flowing from his downtown Tampa Central Command post. Under his leadership, artists, cultural workers and arts supporters knew where, when and how to register their budgetary thoughts and complaints. Our own Art (and how much more perfect could a name be?) understands that a community without significant art and culture just isn't a community worth living in. He also knows how to take the proverbial bull by the horns.
