The City of Tampa distributed almost 300,000 bottles of water and 500,000 face coverings Wednesday, and there’s more where that came from.

The city distributed 295,248 bottles of water and 498,479 face coverings to businesses and nonprofits at the city’s “business only site at Al Lopez Park.

Face coverings and water will continue to be distributed throughout the city today. Residents are limited to two face coverings per person and one case of bottled water per household.

The city’s push to distribute water bottles coincided with its announcement of a citywide boil water notice on Monday, after a “third-party” hit a transmission main coming from the David L. Tippin Water Treatment Facility.

The city finished repairs to the pipe on Wednesday, but kept the notice in effect until Thursday morning to complete testing. The incident resulted in the loss of 12 million gallons of water, according to the city.

The following sites will be distributing water and face coverings until 7 p.m., or until supplies run out:

  • Himes Avenue Sports Complex 4501 S. Himes Ave.
  • MacFarlane Park 700 N. MacDill Ave.
  • Al Barnes Park 2902 N. 32nd St.
  • New Tampa Community Center 17302 Commerce Park Blvd.

No ID is required, and households with more than four members can pick up an additional case.

Al Lopez Park will also be open at 4810 N Himes Ave. Business owners may request up to five cases of bottled water per location through the city’s online request form at Tampa.gov.
