Well, it seems 2010 has been a year of change for me so far, and it is a good thing. New job, new perspective, new adventures. I managed to survive my first week back to work, and as sick and crazy as I know it sounds I'm looking forward to going back. I was definitely dragging butt near the end of the week; my body is not quite used to getting up at the crack of dawn and being alert and attentive all day, but I will get used to it. Everyone there is nice, they all seem to really enjoy their job and love working for the company. I feel very blessed. Unbelievably enough, someone there recognized me from the blog, so I had to explain it to my new co-workers, and one of them said, "Oh great, now we will all end up in her blog." I explained that if they did end up in here they should consider it a form of flattery, and I reassured them that I do at least change all the names.
Now there is the issue of re-naming the blog. I have had several suggestions. My original idea was to change it to The Diary of the Newly Employed Housewife as noted above, or variations on that. A few of my readers came up with some good ones, though, among them Running with the Hurd and Hurd it Through the Grapevine." But I think my favorite is Yeah, you Hurd me! Great suggestions from everyone! (Of course, the husband wasnt exactly thrilled with the idea of the play on our last name, considering he had hurd them all growing up my favorite, Whats the word, Hurd? but he will survive.) In fact, I decided not to legally hyphenate my last name when we got married, because what came to mind when I wrote the name Michelle Greene-Hurd, was a green pasture full of bovines. Not exactly the impression I was looking to make. Ill leave it to my editor to make the final cut on the new name!
One thing is for sure: I am so happy to split the responsibilities of the household with the husband again. Laundry and grocery shopping is reserved for Sundays instead of being spread out across the entire week, and oh happy day, I no longer have to cook every night! Its great to be back on a schedule again.
Grinning from ear to ear,
The Newly Employed Housewife
"Change is absolutely necessary in this world, and the dissolution of many of the ego-based structures is necessary for humanity to survive. What's happening isn't 'dreadfully bad.' It needs to happen; the intelligence behind phenomena is doing it, so it's a good thing." Eckhart Tolle
