Here's another great eco-friendly DIY project that transforms items you'd normally throw away into a useful household item: a flashlight! (Also known as a "torch" in some areas of the world.)

This project uses items you probably already have in your home: an empty soda can, a cereal box, batteries, string, aluminum foil, food coloring, etc. It's a simple and eco-friendly upcycling project and would also be great as an 'arts & crafts' activity for older kids (just be careful when letting them cut the soda can or do it for them).
