Florida's elections law bill, passed by the GOP-led Legislature last spring and signed into law by Governor Scott, has infuriated Democrats so much that it's brought them literally into the streets. And now they have potentially their biggest ally yet in the person of Attorney General Eric Holder.
In a speech given Tuesday night in Austin, Texas, the AG urged the nation to call on our political parties "to resist the temptation to suppress certain votes in the hope of attaining electoral success.”
Holder's Department of Justice is reported to be "examining" the changes that occurred in Florida's election system — which include imposing financial penalties on third-party voter registration organizations like the League of Women Voters when they miss deadlines and shortening the number of days in the early voting period.
