The E3: Energy, Environment and Economics forum took place today at the St. Pete Times Forum in downtown Tampa. The regional forum, which is the first of its kind, was headed by Hillsborough County Commissioner Rose Ferlita, who is also the mastermind behind the event.
Festivities started at 8 a.m. and lasted until 1:30 p.m., with a closing speech from the Deputy Secretary for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Mimi Drew. The focus, according to Ferlita, was to provide information on how each organization can manage its carbon footprint in the most efficient way, both financially and environmentally.
The audience, comprised of about 175 people. Most of whom were government affiliated, fleet managers, facilities managers, elected leaders, leaders of organizations and vendors, according to Lori Hudson, the Director of Communications.
A lot of what we focused on are people who are planners, fleet managers, facilities managers; people who are on the ground and can start making decisions today. People who can start using the knowledge that they can get in a wonderful forum like this. There's an opportunity for the exchange of ideas, and they can take it back with them and implement some of those ideas, Hudson said.
