Good morning everybody.
While the city government of St. Pete will basically shut down today as the community honors its two fallen officers from Monday's incident, folks in Tampa are gearing up for the annual street party known as the Gasparilla Festival. San Francisco has its annual huge blowout for Gay Freedom, New York City for Puerto Ricans, and Tampa for……well, who knows what it's for. Our recount of the parade's dark past is posted here.
Barack Obama mentioned a multitude of plans and programs during his State of the Union address last Tuesday night, but obviously couldn't get to everything -like gun control. White House officials say that was intentional, and say the President will talk about some modest efforts in the wake of the Gabrielle Giffords shooting 20 days soon.
And earlier this week Pasco County freshman Republican Richard Corcoran, formerly chief of staff to then House Speaker Marco Rubio, will follow the footsteps of the man he used to work for, but not anytime soon. He was named Speaker of the Florida House – in 2017! Sorry for beating a dead horse, but we just have some issues about that.
