Tampa Mayor Jane Castor really, really wants you to experience her 2.5-mile long fireworks display, and Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan thinks that anywhere from 100,000 to 200,000 people might turn out for Castor’s first Boom By The Bay celebration.
It all depends on the weather,” he said in a Monday news conference. Traffic could, without a doubt, be a total clusterfuck in downtown Tampa, but HART is doing its best to help alleviate congestion.
According to a press release, all HART services will be free and operating on a Sunday schedule on Thursday, July 4.
What’s more, HART will also be running two free downtown shuttles that’ll run every 15 minutes from 3 p.m.-11 p.m. The north shuttle will travel from downtown’s Marion Transit Center to the Straz Center and Curtis Hixon Park with access to Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park via Tyler St. and Doyle Carlton, while the south shuttle will travel from the Marion Transit Center to the TECO Line Streetcar for service to Sparkman Wharf.
The TECO Line streetcar — which has been free to ride since last fall — will run every 10 minutes from 7 a.m. to midnight and services both Ybor City and downtown Tampa.
Sparkman Wharf — along with Tampa Armature Works, Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park and the Tampa Convention Center — are four sites where fireworks lovers can watch big lights go boom in the sky.
