Hillsborough County Commissioners got busy in their first regular meeting with their three new members - Victor Crist, Les Miller and Sandy Murman. They and the old guard got into a lengthy discussion about whether or not to offer the full time job of County Administrator to the man who has been doing that job for much of this year, Mike Merrill. Ultimately they opted to sign him up for a year while they'll conduct a nationwide search for a replacement to Pat Bean.
The BOCC also discussed a proposed by from one of their former colleagues, state Senator Ronda Storms, that would eliminate the Public Transportation Commission, and put those duties back with the board. But unanimously they decided that wasn't a good idea.

Meanwhile, Will Snyder, the House Republican whose earlier bill (not yet introduced) gathered headlines earlier this year, says he won't do anything to move it forward until at least some of his Hispanic colleagues sign off on it.
