The Tampa Bay Lightning are coming off of a tough loss in game 4 at home in Amalie Arena heading into game 5 against the New York Rangers. The series is tied 2-2.
Despite out-shooting and out-playing the Rangers for much of the game, the Bolts were on the losing end of some unfortunate bounces and a stellar rebound game by Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who rebounded from the worst back-to-back games of his career. Lundqvist stopped 38 shots to help the New York Rangers shut down the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-1.
Steven Stamkos scored for the third straight game, scoring the Lightning’s only goal.
Derick Brassard's perfect pass set up Marty St. Louis' first goal of the playoffs for the Rangers. St. Louis, who was traded for Lightning right wing Ryan Callahan last season, has not made a huge impact in the Eastern Conference Finals just yet.
The last time Tampa took the ice at Madison Square Garden, they handed the Rangers a 6-2 drubbing. Heading into game 5 with playoff scoring leader Tyler Johnson, the Lightning will be looking for a repeat performance.
