Last year, more than 45,000 Florida homes participated in Airbnb, and about 4.5 million of the service’s users spent the night in those homes. That’s according to recently published, state-commissioned data which says that Floridan Airbnb hosts earned $810 million last year.
That data also showed that Pinellas Airbnb hosts are raking in much more money than their counterparts in Hillsborough and Polk counties.
According to the TBBJ, Pinellas County hosts welcomed 232,000 guests and earned $44.2 million along the way. Polk came in behind Pinellas with earnings of $22.5 million (195,000 guests) while Hillsborough came in behind that with $20.5 million (157,000 guests).
According to the report, Florida hotel occupancy rates, daily prices and revenues have also grown steadily as local hosts welcomed millions of guests.
See gramps? That damn internet is ruining everything, after all.
