Psyche Cinema We don't know what kind of upbringing the Brothers Quay had, but it couldn't have been pretty. Ten of the twins' surrealist-inspired, stop-motion animated films are featured during The Brothers Quay Collection, at 6 p.m. in the Dali. The brothers' astonishing miniature sets become whole worlds, full of long-repressed childhood dreams and menacing Kafkaesque nightmares. Viewing is free with museum admission ($5 after 5 p.m.). Coyote Cutie Between the Improv and Side Splitters, Tampa's getting ample chances to meet stars and would-be stars. The latter club offers the latter type of star at 8:30 p.m., in the form of Jimmy Shubert. This once-upon-a-time writer for Andrew Dice Clay (when he was funny) and opening act for Sam Kinison (for about five years) has parlayed his experience into memorable turns in movies like Go! and Coyote Ugly. Flower Power The St. Petersburg Little Theatre wraps up its 76th season with The Ladies of the Camellias, Lillian Garrett-Groag's hilarious backstage farce. The 8 p.m. play takes us back to 1897 Paris, where two dueling divas — Sarah Bernhardt and Eleanora Duse — are both scheduled to perform Camille in the same theater. Dysfunction Junction Have you seen Titus, the newest sitcom on Fox? Oh man, and we thought Al Bundy and family were fucked up. Christopher Titus, the show's namesake, brings his own hard-edged upbringing to the show. His own form of laughter therapy, we guess. Fistfights with dad, an institutionalized mom, regular police visits … you'll hear all about it at Titus' 8 and 10:30 p.m. Improv shows. Tickets cost $22, and the club's at 1600 E. Booty Call Friday happens to be Shake Your Naked Ass Night at Pleasuredome. Not exactly sure what that entails, butt there's lots more goin' on if you ain't got back. Wild 98.7's DJ Trauma offers hip-hop in the main room, along with a Wet and Wild T-Shirt contest. The show room features DJ Tony Waddell laying down the high-energy dance tracks. Feelin' the Burn This may not be Texas, but Floridians still know how to pick a mean peck of peppers. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (and continuing tomorrow), Beckett Lake Nursery is ground zero for your favorite hot stuff, during its fourth annual Pepper Extravaganza. Salsa, hot sauce, pepper plants, cooking demos, seminars and more await fans of fiery foods. While you're there, check out the nursery's beautiful new butterfly habitat. Always Wantin' More If you're hanging at Club More tonight, be sure to wish Flash Gordon a happy belated (29 again yesterday, right?). Oh yeah, and take in the alternative country-rock of corn-fed Texas boys Slobberbone and the pensive folk of working-class folk-rocker (and lead singer for Atlanta's Drivin' n' Cryin') Kevn Kinney. Local Vocals If you're not going to Club More, pour into the Brass Mug for a pintful of incestuously intermingled, jingly-jangly R.E.M./Kinks-inspired rock. Bite Size is a trio that unites Americana and British Invasion, fronted by former Nailbiter and Pagan Saint vet Chris Lunceford. Pagan Saints features the soothing Southern-tinged croon of Will Quinlan; The Unrequited Loves, formerly Nailbiters, are garage rock revivalists led by Mike O'Neill, and — the pearl in this yummy rock oyster — Ferrell Melton — is the new incarnation of local band of yore Monday Mornings. This is the first show reuniting O'Neill, Karen Collins, Mike Roe and Fred Stolz since 1993; they offer fresh and inviting new material on this outing. Botanical Brouhaha Chuck the computer, kill your TV and soak up the good vibes at USF Botanical Gardens' 2001 Butterfly & Herb Fair. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., this last day of activities includes an excellent selection of butterfly plants, herbs and accessories, the free-flying Butterfly House and plenty of fun for little gardeners (including a caterpillar petting zoo). Taps If you can't find the Feet of Flames video in Blockbuster's remainder bin for $3.99, you can catch the live show at the Ice Palace at 7 p.m. Michael Flatley, the former Riverdance and Lord of the Dance star whose legs (according to Chandler on Friends) flail about as if independent of his body, presents this innovative and breathtaking dance, music and storytelling extravaganza. It's a Chick Thing Since 1978, The Centre for Women has served the female population of Hillsborough via seminars and classes on everything from divorce to dependency, anger management to resumes. From 6 to 8 p.m., women can learn about the realities of Home Buying. Financial planner David Lawrence teaches ladies how to qualify for a mortgage, budget their money, live within their means and more. The class costs $5 and reservations are requested. For Your Viewing Pleasure The Gulf Coast Museum of Art has two new shows up and running, Lisa Williamson: Gardens; The Wild, The Timid, and The Invisible, along with John Henry: Wandering Spirit. Williamson's environmental-theme works include paintings on canvas and other fabric, and watercolors on paper. Meanwhile, in the Sculpture Garden, Henry offers a monumental sculpture originally designed for an exhibition in Panicale, Italy. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission costs $3. Let's Rap Looks like Wednesday has become an unofficial Hip Hop Night. At least two claim to be the best, but we'll let you be the judge: Turbulence features Wild 98.7's DJ Coz, Third Leg Greg and DJ Cyrus spinning some phat tunes, while DJ Trauma and DJ Craze do their thing at Plush.
