Pumpkin Key, a large private island with enough amenities for a small resort, is back on the market with a hefty price cut.
Located in Card Sound, just a three minute boat ride from shore, the Pumpkin Key compound was completed in 1985, and besides the bragging rights of owning your own island, the sale features a 5,000-square-foot, three-bedroom home, two caretaker’s cottages, a dock master’s apartment, a 20-slip marina (that can hold a megayacht), a private beach, two tennis courts that double as a helipad, and golf cart paths encircling the whole island.
Pumpkin Key also comes with a mainland home and dockage at the nearby Ocean Reef Club, which features a private club and an airstrip for private jets.
According to property records, the island is currently owned by Jane Morton—the widow of Chicago-based Terra Cotta tycoon George A. Berry, who bought it in 1973.
The 26-acre island has been on and off the market for years, and most recently was listed as high as $95 million in February of 2023. Back in 2015, the island was listed at $110 million.
Today, you can get it for a bit of a discount.
Pumpkin Key is currently asking $75 million, and the listing agent is Liz Hogan of Compass Florida.
