Reduce your carbon footprint and save money with Progress Energy Florida's EnergyWise program

“Enrolling in EnergyWise was an easy and smart way for me to lower my energy bill without changing my lifestyle,” said Progress Energy Florida customer Luis Diaz. “The best part about it is that I hardly ever notice it’s working – at least until I see the credit applied to my monthly bill.”

The savings are automatically applied for as long as a customer is enrolled in the program. Participation in EnergyWise, which has several options, is completely voluntary.

Programs that reduce energy load, such as EnergyWise and energy-efficiency projects, can help Progress Energy avoid building additional power generation and reduce emissions as the "greenest" watt of energy is the watt that isn't used.

Help reduce your carbon footprint and save money the smart way with Progress Energy Florida’s EnergyWise program.

Qualifying Progress Energy Florida customers can reduce their carbon footprint and cut their energy costs all year long by enrolling in EnergyWise – a free program that can save participating customers more than $145 annually.

When a customer enrolls in the EnergyWise program, Progress Energy will arrange to have a small device installed in the customer’s home that will allow the company to temporarily cycle power off and on to select electrical equipment, such as the water heater, central heating or cooling system or pool pump. The EnergyWise device makes it possible for Progress Energy to temporarily reduce the electrical consumption of its more than 400,000 participating customers in times of unusually high power demand, such as during the recent, record-breaking cold spell. The cycles are limited in duration and timing to have minimal impact on the customers’ schedules and comfort.
