Tuesday! It was full of people acting from the position of the wrong idea. Call me crazy, but when you educate people, you instill within them the desire and knowledge necessary to educate themselves further, and as a result you get fewer people hugging rabid raccoons while saying "nice kitty."
The Public Transportation Commission in Hillsborough County has officially filed suit to keep Uber from operating. Apparently, the PTC thinks the best way to deal with an entity that obviously doesn't give a shit about the law is through legal channels.
I don't even know where to begin untangling this one: A Pinellas Park trailer park that serves as home to both registered sex offenders and the Christian program attempting to rehabilitate them, and was documented in a lauded film, is being disrupted by a dispute between the rehabilitation organization and the Christian musician that owns the property. I think. *reads article again, then reads blurb again* Yeah, that looks right. I think. But it's definitely more complicated than that, as such things are wont to be.
And finally, there was an interesting piece on Gawker about how homegrown, nature-lovin' Florida idiots keep drowning gopher tortoises, which do not live in water, by returning them to the various bodies of water from whence they never, ever came. Note to anyone who assumes something came from the water, like The Toadies, and wishes to put it back there: there's a certain, universal, immediately recognizable look to a living thing that's drowning, and if it looks like it's drowning, IT'S DROWNING.
