Happy Best of the Bay party day! Of course that's not the most important thing that's gonna happen today or anything, but, well, you know — marketing. Onward to yesterday!* (*"Onward to yesterday" is my tragicomic time-traveling hero's catchphrase. Or maybe not. I'm just trying it out.)
The Tampa Bay Lightning lost their first preseason game to the Nashville Predators 3-2 at home in overtime. We'll call this one a gimme.
The Safe & Sound Hillsborough initiative, originally begun after the Sandy Hook shooting, is returning some data on the subject of causes of violence in the county in the wake of a year of heightened violence among local young people. And, seriously, I hate to be flip, but if you didn't know before now that A) some people are disadvantaged by design; B) some youths among these people feel like no one cares about or listens to them, and that makes them feel like they have no future; and C) some people that feel they have no future do desperate and/or stupid and/or lethal things, then you're either deluded or an idiot. Why would you want to be either of those things, when Option Three is being someone who helps others find hope and value in their lives?
And finally, St. Pete cops called to investigate a possible hand grenade determined that the object in question was a toy. This shit has gotten so crazy that you kind of want to know if there was candy inside, yes?
